Ontario Works Department

Ontario Works provides temporary financial assistance to community members who are in need of help covering the costs of their basic needs and shelter; as well as employment assistance to help clients get back into the workforce.  Eligibility for assistance depends on the number of members in your benefit unit, your shelter costs, income, assets, and participation in approved employment assistance activities.  If you are eligible you will receive assistance each month for as long as the client remains in compliance with the Ontario Works program.  Ontario Works provides employment and financial assistance in accordance with legislative authority, policy directives and business practices.
